The Joliet Area/South Suburban Alumnae Chapter (JASSAC) of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., in conjunction with Jassac Charitable Foundation, Inc. and the Small Business Development Center at Governors State University is hosting an empowering and dynamic event for anyone interested in financial planning and for those who are interested in starting or growing their small business. Financial Fortitude will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at Governors State University (E Lounge), located 1 University Parkway, University Park, IL from 10am-2pm.
All participants will have the opportunity to attend workshops to learn more about planning for their future. These workshops include: Estate Planning, Retirement Planning, Spending Plans, and Business Planning. Also on site will be Mad City Money, introducing families to the world of youth financial literacy and responsibility.
If you are an entrepreneur with an interest in small business or if you are a small business owner and are looking to expand or enhance your company, you can participate in the “Shark Friendly Tank” which will give attendees the opportunity to present a proposal to our panelists. Our panel of investors will evaluate proposals and are ready to invest capital to those who impress them with their business plans!
Admission to Financial Fortitude is free to everyone who attends, although registration is requested.

Habitat for Humanity
Through Habitat for Humanity, the chapter has hands-on experience in building and rehabbing homes for families with low income. In addition, the chapter actively participates in fundraisers on behalf of Habitat. From 2007-2009, the chapter assisted in building three houses. The houses were built from the ground up and are now the homes of three single mothers.
